Coalport Bridge

Coalport Bridge

Date: 2003

Description: The first bridge at Coalport was originally constructed from timber "spanning from Preen's Eddy, in the Parish of Broseley, to the Sheep Wash, in the Parish of Madeley". Robert Palmer, a local timber yard owner based in Madeley Wood, built the bridge in 1780 to a design penned by William Haywood. In it's early days this bridge was known as Preens Eddy Bridge.
