Description: This cast iron bridge lies just downstream of the now famous Iron Bridge and was built by John Onions in 1799. It became known as the Coalport Bridge after the village of Coalport had grown up around it. The date of 1818 in this midspan panel refers to repair work carried out in that year by John Onions when the structure was strengthened to cope with increased traffic to Coalport.
