The Keep at Bridgnorth Castle

The Keep at Bridgnorth Castle

Date: 2003

Description: This view of the Norman (1066-1154) Keep at Bridgnorth Castle shows the extent of damage caused to it during the English Civil War (1642-7). It now leans at an angle greater than that of the Leaning Tower of Pisa. The castle was bombarded by Parliamentarian forces for 3 weeks before it finally surrendered on April 26th 1646 (Photograph by Dr Paul Stamper).
